BACKGROUND

A friend of mine named Alex Tichenor has published a book of short stories he’s written in the last year.  The book is called The Unnamed.  He hired me to make an illustration for each story, and this is my favorite of the ones I’ve done.

PROCESS

This is actually a rehash of another idea.  I originally drew a much more disturbing dragon.  After some feedback from Alex I lightened things up.

This was a particularly exciting drawing because it was the first time I used a comb brush, which got some of the very unique marks you can see here.  I was ecstatic to have found such a wonderful new tool.
